I'm in and out of airports three or
four days a week...
so I feel I know airports... the best and
the worst and here are some of them...
Airports have their good and bad
days...especially since 9-11...
There is no uniform code of decorum...
so that creates a problem ...
so here we go...
THE WORST...
1. Seattle ... The lines are long at
every stage... there is an automatic
charge when you check in with
a sky cap... the airlines
have an hour to two hour long line...
United Airlines is especially bad...
the security line is two to three hours
long... The staff has never really
caught on to moving and checking
bags quickly...with the foreign
tourist and the summer cruise
ship customers this is an
un-bearable airport... with seemingly no
light at the end of the tunnel...a tough
airport to get around in... after security
it's downstairs to a tram...
when arriving it's a long walk to
parking and rental cars...
It's amazing a major city like Seattle
has such a bad airport...
Sacramento...
This airport is a total mess...
they have been building something
since before Robert Downey Jr. was in
rehab the first time...Curb side check-in
is at least an hour... and many times
longer...The security lines are two to
four hours long on a regular basis...
going from the outside of the airport
to around the baggage claim area...
Tempers do flair on security lines...
The security workers have no idea
what the procedure is ... Therefore
they run into a hostile crowd...there's
not much of a choice of food...
This airport is not worth the white, red, and
green zone paint ...it's quicker
to leave from San Francisco...
Kansas City... Once you go
through security there are no
stores or restaurants inside the
security gates...and you can't go
go out again without going
through security again...The security
people are very tough...and make
it difficult to get to the gate...it's
no fun...There are very few restaurants
in the airport and none are good...
It's obvious this airport was set up
before 9-11... and no adjustments
have been made...No doubt a
very bad airport....
Baltimore ... Is a terrible airport...
while it is easy to get there...
once you do ... there's
major rebuilding... that has been
going on for at least two years...
It's a very tough airport to get around
in... the Baggage claim is in complete
disaray... passenger waiting area
very small and cramped...
Food isn't very good...security
is a little slow but exceptable...
Honorable Mention...
Miami...There's an international and
drug and language problem here...
too many people for the staff that's
there... Try Fort Lauderdale...
Minneapolis...
A huge foreign staff...
language is a problem...weather is
a problem in the winter...a well
laid out airport...but a very weak
staff... making it a bad airport...
Denver... a great airport in terms
of layout...but a very bad location...
in the middle of no-where...great food...
airport doesn't do well in bad weather...
many delays...in the winter...
The Best...
JFK...
An easy airport to get in or out...
A very large staff deals with a
large volume of people quickly...
Hopefully you can handle alot
of N.Y. attitude ...cause there's
alot of it here...and throughout
the airport ... not much help...
but you will be moving...not
the brightest staff... good food...
don't try to curb side park...but a
good airport...
Pittsburgh...a very under rated airport...
large new airport that keeps people
moving...a very nice staff...
but best of all... a mall... a real
mall... grocery store,office goods,
drug store and a Victoria Secrets...
great food... Pizza, Salads, and
Smoothies...and what a surprise...
all stuff is priced like a real mall...
not airport prices...this by far
is my favorite airport... a nice
place to hang out...
Atlanta...
Not the brightest staff...
and one of the most dis-interested
staff... but for some reason they
get the job done...
moving people quickly along...
a very large staff...the food at this
airport is great some of the best
in America...Hot Dogs, Fried Chicken,
Salads,Wraps...Clothing stores,
internet and e-mail portals...
good book stores...a large but
quick moving airport...
Chicago...O'Hara
They did something very smart...
after 9-11 they changed their
design... to fit the new needs of security
concerns...It is the worst airport to
drive into...
There's crazy parking ... and you
must be careful....
Honorable Mention...
Los Angeles...
The only problem terminal out of
the seven is Terminal One...
where you'll find Southwest,
America West, and U.S. Air...
Southwest is by the far the busiest
airline at LAX...yes from time to time
there will be a line... but it moves
quickly...The security staff like
Atlanta isn't very bright...but there
are alot of them... so they keep people
moving...food very over priced...
but a fast moving airport...
The International Terminal is tough
because of immigration...and
language problems... but the other
terminals are fine...
Las Vegas...
Sundays are terrible...it's get away
day...sometimes the lines get crazy...
but on a daily basis... the Las Vegas
Airport does a good job...
there is a mall... way over priced...
the food in the mall is very limited...
especially in the morning...
but a fun fast moving airport...
a real health club in the airport...
along with a full post office and free
internet ... very good airport...should be a model for other airports ... and free internet...
Orlando...
Because of Disney and
Universal... This airport is set up
for volume...which makes it great
for getting through security very fast...directions to gates very clear...lotsa room to roam...
and you'll need it... because of the
thousands of kids around...if you're
not a kids fan this isn't the place
for you...The whole airport is
a mall... plenty of stores to shop...
lotsa of restaurants and fast food
places...security is very quick...
moving walk ways also throw the
kids off...other than all the kids...
great airport...
Fort Myers...
Just a " Fab " airport...
big and airy...
Fast moving security lines...
Good food...
seems like it's fairly new...
worth flying into... if you're
going to Tampa...Just a swell airport...
Like I said before every airport
has its bad days...
but these airports stand out
one way or the other...
and there will be updates and
additions...
Chicago Midway... No direct freeway and poorly marked...Parking isn't the best ... but O.K...Rental car lot is very
very cramped...I don't like the fact that the ticketing is upstairs... security is downstairs.. but once you're in not bad... the elevators are big and roomy...many security gates...which makes it easy to get through security...The food court is very good....tons of good cheap , fattening food... to that point the people movers are wide ...it needs to be expanded...but if you fly ... Midway is much better than O'Hare .
Cincinnati...
Another roomy airport ...except for the commuter terminal...a little bit of a ride but there are plenty of buses to get you to the main terminal..they are very quick... the food is plentiful...not a good airport for people who don't like to walk... but a good airport...
Portland... Is the best airport in
America...
It's Airy... Live Music...Good Food... Quick Security...Great work spaces...Maybe just a few
more wide screens... but it's really surprisely great ... sounds strange
but almost a point of desination...
well worth the trip...
